443d579d40 wayland: do not crash if the surface is gone
If a queued event is being processed after the surface is
destroyed, trying to access the window associated with the surface
will lead to a segmentation fault.

This patch avoids the crash by first checking if the surface is not null.

5066eaf691 build: Fix non-wayland build
This fixes build error caused by commit 614d6bd. We can simply remove
the usage of meta-wayland.c functions in non-wayland build because
META_BACKEND_X11_MODE_NESTED is only used in wayland.

9432e67ee8 gdk: stage: create subsurface when dealing with foreign windows on wayland
It is safer to create our own wayland surface when rendering into
someone else GdkWindow, otherwise we might draw somewhere we didn't
intend to.

3771ef2f08 gdk: stage: report geometry of the underlying surface for foreign windows
When running on wayland, we might have our own subsurface
desynchronized from the foreign GdkWindow. It is important that we
report the size of the actually surface we're rendering to, otherwise
the logic in ClutterStage might discard resize operation that
resynchronize the subsurface with the stage's size.

55dce70440 gdk: stage: do not ensure native windows are created with foreign windows
For foreign windows this should be dealt with by the embedding
framework. In particular on Wayland with foreign windows, we might
want to create a subsurface and use the foreign window only for events
and frame clock synchronization.

Some operations like :
     * resize
     * show/hide
     * set_title
     * set_user_resizable

should be handled by the embedding framework, so disable them for
foreign windows.

6183eb3632 gdk: master-clock: disable vsync throttling
When running with a master clock based on the GdkFrameClock, we get
synchronized with the compositor, so no need for throttling rendering.

In particular when dealing with foreign windows, we run into deadlocks
in Mesa because of the way the Mesa wayland backend is implemented [1].

4cb750928e winsys: wayland: destroy eglsurface when destroying associated native window
On Wayland deinit() of an onscreen buffer is going to destroy the
associated native window of an EGLSurface. So we should destroy the
EGLSurface as well otherwise we might end up confusing the GL driver.

We also currently guard against setting a EGL_NO_SURFACE as current
EGLSurface, but this shouldn't be a problem if we have a surfaceless
context. So we allow surface destruction under that condition.

94513726de wayland: Clean up surface role assignment
Use a better name, use GNOME conventions for error handling, open code the

wl_subcompositor doesn't have a role error yet, so continue use some

be a bit confusing, it will still be disconnected.

78c44ab132 kms-winsys: clean up error handling in _cogl_winsys_renderer_connect
If cogl fails to open the drm device, initialize gbm, or open the
egl display, then it closes the drm fd, uninitializes gbm, closes the
display and then calls _cogl_winsys_renderer_disconnect which does
most of those things again, on the, now deinitialized, members.

This commit removes the explicit failure handling in renderer_connect and
defers cleanup to disconnect.

614d6bd0f8 Nested X11: use KeymapNotify events to fix key state on FocusIn
If the user Alt-Tabs out of the window, we will be left thinking
the Alt key is still pressed since we don't see a release for it.

Solve this and other related issues for the nested X11 compositor
by selecting for KeymapStateMask which causes a KeymapNotify event
to be sent after each FocusIn, and when we get these events, update
the internal XKB state and send any necessary modifiers events to
clients.

1d56d50fcd background: paint color matte for scaled and centered backgrounds
Some backgrounds don't fully fill the screen. For those backgrounds
it's important to paint a color behind them to fill in the gaps.

This commit checks whether or not the background image textures take
up the entire monitor, and in the event they don't, draws a color
behind them (such as it would do if the background were
translucent).

0ffd4254d9 background: simplify conditional in meta_background_get_texture
meta_background_get_texture only draws the bottom image texture
if
   1) the blend factor leaves the top image translucent
   or
   2) the top image is translucent from alpha

The latter case doesn't actually matter since we're using REPLACE
on the top image texture.

This commit drops the unnecessary check for the second case and
applies demorgans law to the conditional for clarity.

7ed96aabd8 grid: Use the proper orientation for the request mode
We automatically switch the request mode of the container depending on
the GridLayout's orientation, but we need to keep track of the request
mode during allocation, so that we don't get out of sync if the user
changed the request mode after adding the layout manager.

This change also brings us closer to the code in GtkGrid.

dea5057fbd grid: Use the orientation of the request
We use the orientation of the grid to get the preferred size of the
layout, but we should be using the orientation of the request instead.
The preferred width has an orizontal orientation, and the preferred
height has a vertical orientation.

This allows us to refactor the get_preferred_* implementation into a
separate function.

d3fdaa3232 MetaCursorSprite: Put renderer specific code in the renderer
There were lots of code handling the native renderer specific cases;
move these parts to the renderer. Note that this causes the X11 case to
always generate the texture which is a waste of memory, but his
regression will be fixed in a following commit.

The lazy loading of the texture was removed because it was eventually
always loaded anyway indirectly by the renderer to calculate the
current rect.
