52a646abc5 Use the EGL_KHR_surfacless_context extension
The surfaceless context extension can be used to bind a context
without a surface. We can use this to avoid creating a dummy surface
when the CoglContext is first created. Otherwise we have to have the
dummy surface so that we can bind it before the first onscreen is
created.

The main awkward part of this patch is that theoretically according to
the GL and GLES spec if you first bind a context without a surface
then the default state for glDrawBuffers is GL_NONE instead of
GL_BACK. In practice Mesa doesn't seem to do this but we need to be
robust against a GL implementation that does. Therefore we track when
the CoglContext is first used with a CoglOnscreen and force the
glDrawBuffers state to be GL_BACK.

There is a further awkward part in that GLES2 doesn't actually have a
glDrawBuffers state but GLES3 does. GLES3 also defaults to GL_NONE in
this case so if GLES3 is available then we have to be sure to set the
state to GL_BACK. As far as I can tell that actually makes GLES3
incompatible with GLES2 because in theory if the application is not
aware of GLES3 then it should be able to assume the draw buffer is
always GL_BACK.

3917690f5a egl: fix incorrect #ifdef guarding of features
We have an #ifdef EGL_WL_bind_wayland_display guard in
cogl-winsys-egl-feature-functions.h to avoid referencing wayland types
when the EGL header doesn't know about them, but somehow this guard also
ended up around the KHR_create_context and EXT_buffer age features too
even though they aren't wayland specific.

a0441778ad This re-licenses Cogl 1.18 under the MIT license
Since the Cogl 1.18 branch is actively maintained in parallel with the
master branch; this is a counter part to commit 1b83ef938fc16b which
re-licensed the master branch to use the MIT license.

This re-licensing is a follow up to the proposal that was sent to the
Cogl mailing list:

Note: there was a copyright assignment policy in place for Clutter (and
therefore Cogl which was part of Clutter at the time) until the 11th of
June 2010 and so we only checked the details after that point (commit
0bbf50f905)

For each file, authors were identified via this Git command:
$ git blame -p -C -C -C20 -M -M10  0bbf50f905..HEAD

We received blanket approvals for re-licensing all Red Hat and Collabora
contributions which reduced how many people needed to be contacted
individually:

Individual approval requests were sent to all the other identified authors
who all confirmed the re-license on the Cogl mailinglist:

COPYING file has been updated to reflect the license change and also
document the other licenses used in Cogl such as the SGI Free Software
License B, version 2.0 and the 3-clause BSD license.

This patch was not simply cherry-picked from master; but the same
methodology was used to check the source files.

8392420244 wayland-server: Use wl_resource instead of wl_buffer
wl_buffer has been deprecated in the server API and instead
compositors should be directly passing the wl_resource pointer to
eglQueryWaylandBuffer.

cc4e144dd7 check the wayland buffer format when creating texture
The implementation of cogl_wayland_texture_2d_new_from_buffer now uses
eglQueryWaylandBuffer to query the format of the buffer before trying to
create a texture from the buffer.  This makes sure we don't try and
create a texture from YUV buffers for instance that may actually require
multiple textures. We now also report an error when we don't understand
the buffer type or format.

ea7d3b8476 Add fence API
cogl_framebuffer_add_fence creates a synchronisation fence, which will
invoke a user-specified callback when the GPU has finished executing all
commands provided to it up to that point in time.

Support is currently provided for GL 3.x's GL_ARB_sync extension, and
EGL's EGL_KHR_fence_sync (when used with OpenGL ES).

3a7c1263f1 onscreen: Adds swap_buffers_with_damage api
This adds api to be able requests a swap_buffers and also pass a list of
damage rectangles that can be passed on to a compositor to enable it to
minimize how much of the screen it needs to recompose.

2616ae0fa9 Add a GL 3 driver
This adds a new CoglDriver for GL 3 called COGL_DRIVER_GL3. When
requested, the GLX, EGL and SDL2 winsyss will set the necessary
attributes to request a forward-compatible core profile 3.1 context.
That means it will have no deprecated features.

To simplify the explosion of checks for specific combinations of
context->driver, many of these conditionals have now been replaced
with private feature flags that are checked instead. The GL and GLES
drivers now initialise these private feature flags depending on which
driver is used.

The fixed function backends now explicitly check whether the fixed
function private feature is available which means the GL3 driver will
fall back to always using the GLSL progend. Since Rob's latest patches
the GLSL progend no longer uses any fixed function API anyway so it
should just work.

The driver is currently lower priority than COGL_DRIVER_GL so it will
not be used unless it is specificly requested. We may want to change
this priority at some point because apparently Mesa can make some
memory savings if a core profile context is used.

In GL 3, getting the combined extensions string with glGetString is
deprecated so this patch changes it to use glGetStringi to build up an
array of extensions instead. _cogl_context_get_gl_extensions now
returns this array instead of trying to return a const string. The
caller is expected to free the array.

Some issues with this patch:

• GL 3 does not support GL_ALPHA format textures. We should probably
  make this a feature flag or something. Cogl uses this to render text
  which currently just throws a GL error and breaks so it's pretty
  important to do something about this before considering the GL3
  driver to be stable.

• GL 3 doesn't support client side vertex buffers. This probably
  doesn't matter because CoglBuffer won't normally use malloc'd
  buffers if VBOs are available, but it might but worth making
  malloc'd buffers a private feature and forcing it not to use them.

• GL 3 doesn't support the default vertex array object. This patch
  just makes it create and bind a single non-default vertex array
  object which gets used just like the normal default object. Ideally
  it would be good to use vertex array objects properly and attach
  them to a CoglPrimitive to cache the state.

32fbd0ada6 kms: Use a dummy surface instead of the surfaceless extension
The surfaceless extension that Mesa advertises has been renamed to
EGL_KHR_surfaceless_context instead of a separate extension for the
GLES, GLES2 and GL APIs and the new extension has been ratified by
Khronos. Therefore the KMS backend no longer runs against Mesa master.
We could just rename the extension we check for, however Weston (the
sample Wayland compositor) has switched to just creating a dummy GBM
surface and not using the surfaceless extension at all. We should
probably do the same thing.

Using the surfaceless extension could be a good idea but we don't
really need to rely on it for KMS and we would want to do it for all
EGL backends, not just the KMS backend.

889e4aba9c kms: Check for the right surfaceless extension depending on driver
There are three separate EGL_KHR_surfaceless_* extensions depending on
which GL API is being used so we should probably check the right one
depending on which driver Cogl has selected.

79f20d08b6 wayland: Updates the wayland compositor side support
The compositor side wayland support enabling us to create textures from
wayland buffers needed updating since visuals were removed from the
wayland protocol.

This also fixes the #ifdef guards for the bind_wayland_display extension
in cogl-winsys-egl-feature-functions.h since it was mistakenly checking
that client-side wayland support had been enabled which won't be the
case.

1527b017c5 build: don't referencing wayland syms if not available
cogl-winsys-egl-feature-functions.h was unconditionally depending on the
struct wl_display type being defined. This guards the check for the
"WL_bind_wayland_display" extension with
 #ifdef COGL_HAS_EGL_PLATFORM_WAYLAND_SUPPORT

a29a76dbab Adds _cogl_wayland_texture_2d_new_from_buffer API
This adds internal API to be able to wrap a wayland buffer as a
CoglTexture2D. There is a --enable-wayland-egl-server option to decide
if Cogl should support this feature and potentially any EGL based winsys
could support this through the EGL_KHR_image_base and
EGL_WL_bind_display extensions.

8714d99300 egl: Add x11 texture-from-pixmap support
By using the EGL_KHR_image_base/pixmap extensions this adds support for
wrapping X11 pixmaps as CoglTexture2D textures. Clutter will
automatically take advantage of this if using the
ClutterX11TexturePixmap actor.

60b25615fd Add _cogl_egl_texture_2d_new_from_image API
This adds an internal texture_2d constructor that can wrap an EGLImage
as a CoglTexture2D. The plan is to utilize this for texture-from-pixmap
support with EGL as well as creating textures from wayland buffers.

d5d11f1878 Moves all EGL code down from Clutter to Cogl
As was recently done for the GLX window system code, this commit moves
the EGL window system code down from the Clutter backend code into a
Cogl winsys.

Note: currently the cogl/configure.ac is hard coded to only build the GLX
winsys so currently this is only available when building Cogl as part
of Clutter.
