8431e7ae51 misc/objectManager: Fix emission of object-removed signal
Emitting this signal is broken right now: We check for a length of 0 on
this._objects[objectPath], but the
`this._objects[objectPath][interfaceName] = null` we do before the
check doesn't actually remove the key, it only sets the value to null,
leaving the key around and thus the amount of entries in the object doesn't
change.

Fix that by using the delete statement instead, "delete" properly removes
the key and thus affects the amount of entries in the object, making our
length === 0 check effective.

97b7dee564 objectManager: Use non-legacy style
There are a couple of places left where we still use the old
indentation style, update them before making code changes.

After that, there are only a couple of non-type-safe comparisons
left of legacy style, so change those as well while we're at it.

a88e59c1a8 Adopt EventEmitter class instead of injecting Signal methods
Introduce a new class, EventEmitter, which implements signal
handling for pure JavaScript classes. EventEmitter still
utilizes GJS' addSignalMethods internally.

EventEmitter allows static typechecking to understand the
structure of event-emitting JS classes and makes creating
child classes simpler.

The name 'EventEmitter' mirrors a common name for this pattern
in Node and in JS libraries.

2b45a01517 cleanup: Use new indentation style for object literals
We have made good progress on object literals as well, although there
are still a lot that use the old style, given how ubiquitous object
literals are.

But the needed reindentation isn't overly intrusive, as changes are
limited to the object literals themselves (i.e. they don't affect
surrounding code).

And given that object literals account for quite a bit of the remaining
differences between regular and legacy rules, doing the transition now
is still worthwhile.

764527c8c9 js: Promisify async operations
Promises make asynchronous operations easier to manage, in particular
when used through the async/await syntax that allows for asynchronous
code to closely resemble synchronous one.

gjs has included a Gio._promisify() helper for a while now, which
monkey-patches methods that follow GIO's async pattern to return a
Promise when called without a callback argument.

Use that to get rid of all those GAsyncReadyCallbacks!

0d035a4e53 cleanup: Prefer template strings
Template strings are much nicer than string concatenation, so use
them where possible; this excludes translatable strings and any
strings containing '/' (until we can depend on gettext >= 0.20[0]).

1398aa6562 style: Fix indentation errors
While we have some style inconsistencies - mostly regarding split lines,
i.e. aligning to the first arguments vs. a four-space indent - there are
a couple of places where the spacing is simply wrong. Fix those.

Spotted by eslint.

f250643385 style: Use space after catch
We are currently inconsistent with whether or not to put a space
after catch clauses. While the predominant style is to omit it,
that's inconsistent with the style we use for any other statement.
There's not really a good reason to stick with it, so switch to
the style gjs/eslint default to.

bacfdbbb03 cleanup: Port non-GObject classes to JS6 classes
ES6 finally adds standard class syntax to the language, so we can
replace our custom Lang.Class framework with the new syntax. Any
classes that inherit from GObject will need special treatment,
so limit the port to regular javascript classes for now.

96c5404fd4 objectManager: correct other invalid index code in onNameVanished
The object manager tries to synthesize interface removal
events if the bus name of a remote object drops off the bus.

The code had bad typos in it, though: it reuses the `i`
index variable in its inner loop, where it should be using
the `j` index variable.

This commit corrects the i/j confusion.

afc7925e3e objectManager: correct invalid index code in onNameVanished
The object manager tries to synthesize interface removal
events if the bus name of a remote object drops off the bus.

The code has a bad typo in it, though: it confuses `objectPaths`
(the list of all object paths) and `objectPath` (the object
currently being processed this iteration of the loop).

That leads to a failure to synthesize the interface removal
events, and spew in the log.

This commit corrects the objectPath/objectPaths confusion.

3b1330880f cleanup: Use Function.prototype.bind()
When not using arrow notation with anonymous functions, we use Lang.bind()
to bind `this` to named callbacks. However since ES5, this functionality
is already provided by Function.prototype.bind() - in fact, Lang.bind()
itself uses it when no extra arguments are specified. Just use the built-in
function directly where possible, and use arrow notation in the few places
where we pass additional arguments.

2582d16ca7 Define classes with 'var' instead of 'const'
Any symbols (including class properties) that should be visible
outside the module it's defined in need to be defined as global.

the warnings spill now by changing it.

9c8a470934 objectManager: handle proxies coming and going
Ever since commit b8e29ae8c7
(I think), start up is littered with this message:

Gjs-WARNING **: JS ERROR: could not get remote objects for service
 org.gnome.SettingsDaemon.Smartcard path

since gnome-shell is now started before gnome-settings-daemon.

This commit addresses the problem by making the object manager code
not try to autostart its proxy, and instead wait for it to appear.

d29b86baf0 objectManager: clear inhibitor on unregistered interfaces
A D-Bus service can export more supported interfaces than the
shell cares about. In those cases, we avoid creating proxies,
but neglect to finish things up so the object manager class
knows it can mark itself loaded.

This commit makes sure we do the proper finishing, so the object
manager still loads in the face of unsupported interfaces.

4b450bab11 misc: add objectManager class
The D-Bus ObjectManager interface is fairly recent addition to the
D-Bus specification. Its purpose is to provide a standardized way
to track objects dynamically coming and going for a service, and
to track capabilities dynamically coming and going for those objects
(by means of interfaces).

This commit adds the requisite code needed to make use of the
ObjectManager interface.

It will ultimately be needed to implement smartcard support in the
login screen.
