We have been using type-safe comparisons in new code for quite a while
now, however old code has only been adapted slowly.
Change all the remaining bits to get rid of another legacy style
difference.

We have made good progress on object literals as well, although there
are still a lot that use the old style, given how ubiquitous object
literals are.
But the needed reindentation isn't overly intrusive, as changes are
limited to the object literals themselves (i.e. they don't affect
surrounding code).
And given that object literals account for quite a bit of the remaining
differences between regular and legacy rules, doing the transition now
is still worthwhile.

This updates the use of bind_cairo_surface_property for the changes
from d7cb2eeebc. Now this function returns a StImageContent and not
an Actor like the following code expects, so wrap it in a StIcon.
Also the function lost its size argument.

Since ES5, trailing commas in arrays and object literals are valid.
We generally haven't used them so far, but they are actually a good
idea, as they make additions and removals in diffs much cleaner.

ES6 allows to omit property names where they match the name of the
assigned variable, which makes code less redunant and thus cleaner.
We will soon enforce that in our eslint rules, so make sure we use
the shorthand wherever possible.

Clutter originally cluttered its namespace with key symbols, before
prefixing all symbols with KEY. We still use the unprefixed symbols
occasionally, replace them so mutter can drop the deprecated symbols.

Every since commit aa394754, StBoxLayout has supported ClutterActor's
expand/align properties in addition to the container-specific child
properties. Given that that's the only container left with a special
child meta, it's time to fully embrace the generic properties (and
eventually remove the child meta).

Braces are optional for single-line arrow functions, but there's a
subtle difference:
Without braces, the expression is implicitly used as return value; with
braces, the function returns nothing unless there's an explicit return.
We currently reflect that in our style by only omitting braces when the
function is expected to have a return value, but that's not very obvious,
not an important differentiation to make, and not easy to express in an
automatic rule.
So just omit braces consistently as mandated by gjs' coding style.

In order to replace GTK+'s GtkDirectionType. It's bit-compatible with it,
too. All callers have been updated to use it.
This is a purely accessory change in terms of X11 Display usage cleanup,

ES6 finally adds standard class syntax to the language, so we can
replace our custom Lang.Class framework with the new syntax. Any
classes that inherit from GObject will need special treatment,
so limit the port to regular javascript classes for now.

This commit removes all the uses of Shell.GenericContainer from
SwitcherPopup.SwitcherList. Compared to the other patches, this
one was specially trickier to get right, and a few invasive
changes needed to be done.
The most noticeable one is that the allocation of the items is
done entirely by St.BoxLayout -- we don't manually allocate them
anymore. To make it work, get_preferred_width() had to calculate
the correct value. It now assumes that:
* Minimum width: the minimum width of the widest child.
* Natural width: the minimum width of the StBoxLayout (use it
instead of the natural width to force the labels to ellipsize
when too long.)
The AppIcon class became a St.Widget subclass as well, to override
get_preferred_width() and be able to keep the squared shape.
Besides that, add a new SwitcherButton class to reimplement squared
icons without having to resort to hacks in the size allocation
machinery. This class has a single vfunc override to ensure that it
is squared when the SwitcherList is.
The arrows indicating multiple windows are now in this._list
actor to the SwitcherPopup itself, since this._list automatically
manages its own children now.
At last, adapt (but preserve) the hack in CyclerPopup.

Remove any usage of MetaScreen, as it has been removed from libmutter
in the API version 3. The corresponding functionality has been moved
into three different places: MetaDisplay, MetaX11Display (for X11
specific functionality) and MetaWorkspaceManager.

When not using arrow notation with anonymous functions, we use Lang.bind()
to bind `this` to named callbacks. However since ES5, this functionality
is already provided by Function.prototype.bind() - in fact, Lang.bind()
itself uses it when no extra arguments are specified. Just use the built-in
function directly where possible, and use arrow notation in the few places
where we pass additional arguments.

Any symbols (including class properties) that should be visible
outside the module it's defined in need to be defined as global.
For now gjs still allows the access for 'const', but get rid of
the warnings spill now by changing it.

All derived classes are already checking explicitly for action names
(FOO and FOO_BACKWARDS). mutter used to have a META_KEY_BINDING_REVERSES
flag for keybindings which required special handling of "shift"+FOO as
FOO_BACKWARDS, but this has been removed now, so this special handling
is no longer necessary.

The duality of the Clutter's key focus and mutter's window focus has long been
a problem for us in lots of case, and caused us to create large and complicated
hacks to get around the issue, including GrabHelper's focus grab model.
Instead of doing this, tie basic focus management into the core of gnome-shell,
instead of requiring complex "application-level" management to get it done
right.
Do this by making sure that only one of an actor or window can be focused at
the same time, and apply the appropriate logic to drop one or the other,
reactively.
Modals are considered a special case, as we grab all keyboard events, but at
the X level, the client window still has focus. Make sure to not do any input
synchronization when we have a modal.
At the same time, remove the FOCUSED input mode, as it's no longer necessary.

Metacity's Ctrl+Alt+Tab would include X11 windows
with hints like GDK_WINDOW_TYPE_HINT_DOCK and
GDK_WINDOW_TYPE_HINT_DESKTOP (there are more conditions, but that's a
good start). If we're in normal mode, those are visible and it's OK
to display those in the Ctrl+Alt+Tab order, but if we're in the lock
screen or the unlock dialog, they're not visible and it doesn't make
sense to focus them.

The nautilus icon sticks out pretty badly among the symbolic
icons we use for other desktop components. This commit finds
windows of type DESKTOP, and uses the video-display-symbolic
icon for them.

We always add external DOCK windows to the ctrl-alt-tab switcher,
e.g. separate dock applications or nautilus' desktop windows.
Since commit 1f46a0dc26, all items in the switcher are expected
to set a proxy parameter, but the aforementioned code was not
updated accordingly.
