This is not strictly necessary when linking the shell with DT_RPATH as
the runtime paths will be extracted from the introspected libraries and
used from gobject introspection to find them when loading them based on
the typelib files, but when linking with DT_RUNPATH, as it's the case
for some linkers (e.g. ld.gold, or ld.bfd in some distros like Debian).
By explicitly prepending this directory as a library path for GIR, we're
making sure that the wrapped shared objects installed in Mutter's and
GNOME Shell's private directories can be found in all cases.

The built-in telepathy integration is far less prominent than it
used to be, and doesn't really justify a link time dependency to
send debug message over D-Bus.
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=771721
We are still using DBUS_NAME_FLAG_REPLACE_EXISTING from dbus-glib
in some places (whose headers are drawn in via telepathy-glib).
As both GIO and dbus-glib use the values that will end up being
sent on the bus, the define and enum value are interchangeable,
but it's clearly better to consistently use the library that is
explicitly included.

This will be required in the upcoming version of GJS.
The reference count on ShellGlobal is 2 at this point, because JS holds a
reference due to the "window.global = Shell.Global.get()" line in
ui/environment.js. Therefore, destroy the GjsContext first, then unref
the ShellGlobal object.
Cleaning up ShellGlobal was previously only enabled behind a debug
environment variable, but it should be required now.

You can define a new importer object by importing a subdirectory in GJS.
This is undocumented, but it is likely to at least hold until the whole
thing moves to ES6 modules, after which we'll be able to do this purely
in JS with Reflect.Loader.
Since this was the only thing the ShellJS library did, we can remove it
altogether.
This allows us to discontinue use of the gjs-internals-1.0 embedder API.

Commit 6c2f3d1d17 moved pref overrides into JS to implement
session mode specific overrides in a clean and generic way.
However that approach comes with a cost - doing the overrides only
after having handled over control to JS means that the core will
be initialized with the non-overridden settings before changing
to the correct values. In the best case this is unnecessary work,
but it can in fact have a worse effect: when initializing workspaces,
we will restore the previous number of workspaces when using
dynamic-workspaces and reset to the configured number otherwise.
As the non-overridden default for dynamic-workspaces is FALSE, we
can easily end up moving the user's windows to the "wrong" workspace.
Now GSettings is expected to grow support for session specific defaults,
which will render our entire override system obsolete (yay!). Given
that, it seems acceptable to use a less generic (and uglier) approach
in the meanwhile, in order to fix aforementioned problems. So move
overrides back before core initialization and just hardcode the
session-mode => override-schema relation.

The log handler can be invoked at bad times, and in particular
it can be invoked from gsignal with the signal lock taken.
At that time, calling into arbitrary high-level APIs can
cause a dead-lock.
Instead, only send to telepathy the tp-glib debug messages.
Everything else is in the journal anyway.

Specifying the session mode on the command-line doesn't play
well with session management (since the saved session desktop
file well either drop the specified session mode, or force it
always, even if the user picked a different mode at the login
screen)
This commit adds support for specifying the session mode via an
enviroment variable. For now, keep the old command line interface
for backward compatibility

Build gnome-shell for x11, and gnome-shell-wayland for wayland
(as well as the associated libgnome-shell and libgnome-shell-wayland).
The first one links to libmutter, the second to libmutter-wayland.
libgnome-shell and libgnome-shell-wayland are now compiled from
libgnome-shell-base (with all sources that are independent of mutter),
libgnome-shell-menu (with the copy-pasted gtk sources), plus the
sources that use mutter API

We will allow to use mode-specific overrides; in preparation for that,
move the code so that we only override preferences after initializing
the session mode.

Attaching gdb and running with G_DEBUG=fatal-warnings is not a very
fast to debug a specific issue (especially if you have warnings at
startup, since then you need to run the shell from a terminal).
Instead, introduce a new SHELL_DEBUG environment variable that can
be set to backtrace-warning, causing a gjs_dumpstack() after every
warning or critical.

g_str_has_prefix() will assert when passed NULL, so we need to make
sure that we are passed a non-NULL log_domain first.

The descriptions for keybindings shared with Metacity are now
duplicated in Mutter, so only use the latter to avoid duplicate
entries in System Settings.

The application menu is currently unusable with non-maximized
windows when using focus-follows-mouse mode. Override mutter's
focus-change-on-pointer-rest preference, so that the actual
focus change is delayed until the pointer stops moving.

The screenshield requires gdm 3.5, which can be problematic in
jhbuild configurations, or distributions that don't use GDM as the display
manager. Allow transparent fallback to gnome-screensaver in that case.

gnome-session and gnome-settings-daemon rely on the screensaver
interface to know the locked state. Since gnome-screensaver is no
longer running, it's up to gnome-shell to provide it.

Instead of falling back to a set of default values or crashing the
window manager when an invalid mode is specified, check the value
of the ShellGlobal:session-mode property before taking over as WM
and make a clean exit if it cannot be resolved to an existent mode.

Add a session-mode property on ShellGlobal which corresponds to the
new --mode switch. Make the existing ShellGlobal:session-type property
readonly and base it on ShellGlobal:session-mode to avoid conflicts.

commit 5350302b09 dropped the possibility
to make a dbus name acquisition failure non-fatal.
